A new show is opening at the gallery on May 21, 2008, and you won't want to miss it! Come and meet the artist May 31, 2008 from 5 to 8 pm. We hope you can come.
Judy Sherman will be showing new works that will bring a smile to your face and perhaps a tear of nostalgia to your eye. Working in the Classical Representation style, Judy presents us with contemporary subjects rendered in this style of her training in Academic Painting and Drawing at the Florence Academy of Art with a master painter who was also the director at this academy.
Juxtaposing objects from our contemporary world, for example the batman pez container, with a lovely rendition of a robin, Judy's intention to demonstrate a sense of comic word play does indeed invoke a spirit of fond nostalgia.
Not only will her incredible technique and formal training keep this style alive, it shows her deep appreciation for the style and techniques. Pleasing to the eye and incorporating objects from the current century, there is no question that these paintings elevate the spirit. This exploration and combination of the classical style with a modern twist is certain to delight you when you view this artist's wonderful work.
